    Fundraising Acknowledgement

    Fundraising

We hold a swim-a-thon each season for our fundraiser. All swimmers are required to participate in completing the laps even if they raise no funds. Fundraising is not required, but is certainly helpful to the team. During a swim-a-thon, swimmers will obtain sponsors who will contribute a monetary amount per lap swam. In return, kids will swim an extended distance according to their age/training group, non-stop, without touching the pool floor, or resting on walls. For example, a 12 year old swims 80 laps straight, at 10 cents per lap for one sponsor, thus fundraising $8.00.

All competition group swimmers will be required to participate and swim the required number of laps for their group regardless if they raise any funds or not. It is part of their training. wink

More information will be provided in June.

    PENN-JERSEY SWIM LEAGUE

    "Sportsmanship Code of Conduct"

In order to promote good sportsmanship at swim meets, the Penn-Jersey Swim League has constructed a Code of Conduct that all parties connected with the League must follow. We believe that coaches, officials, swimmers and spectators will be well served by the standards set forth in the Sportsmanship Code of Conduct.

While the Penn-Jersey Swim League promotes spirited individual and team competition among swimmers and teams, the primary goal of the League has been, since its inception some thirty years ago, to encourage sportsmanship, mutual respect, and individual growth for the swimmers. Parents, coaches, and officials play an important role in shaping these qualities in our swimmers. To that end, the Sportsmanship Code of Conduct includes guidelines to help adults be positive role models for our swimmers.

By working together, we can help make the Penn-Jersey Swim League become a model of good sportsmanship. Swimmers, parents, coaches and officials, please read the Sportsmanship Code of Conduct and acknowledge your support of the Penn-Jersey Swim League by signing in the appropriate places below. Thank you for your support.

    OFFICIALS/BOARD MEMBERS

    1. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all swimmers, coaches, fellow officials and league representatives at all times.
    2. I will ensure that I am knowledgeable in the rules of the meets I officiate, and I will apply those rules fairly to all participants, teams and coaches.
    3. I will not allow personal friendships and associations to influence my decisions during a swim meet.
    4. I will refrain from the use of tobacco and alcohol products when working as an official for a team that belongs to the PJSL.
    5. I shall remain mindful that my conduct influences the respect that swimmers, coaches and spectators hold for officials.
    6. I UNDERSTAND THAT IF I EXHIBIT UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR DURING A SWIM MEET, I WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE MEET. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT I WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISPLINARY ACTION BY THE LEAGUE BOARD.

    PARENTS/SPECTATORS

    1. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all swimmers, coaches and officials at every swim meet and practice.
    2. I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.
    3. I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and will refrain from such use at all swim meets and practices.
    4. I will remember that swim meets are for swimmers - not parents.
    5. I UNDERSTAND THAT IF I EXHIBIT UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR DURING A SWIM MEET, I WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE MEET.

    SWIMMERS

    1. I will remember that good sportsmanship is more important than the outcome of the swim meets.
    2. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support and respect for fellow swimmers, coaches and officials.
    3. I will refrain from the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco when participating on a team that belongs to the PJSL.

    4. I UNDERSTAND THAT IF I EXHIBIT UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR DURING A SWIM MEET, I WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE SWIM MEET AND ANY POINTS I HAVE EARNED FOR MY TEAM WILL BE FORFEITED.

    PJSL COVID Waiver

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. It is believed that an individual can be infected with COVID-19

without their knowledge and be asymptomatic. PJSL and its MEMBER TEAMS has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, PJSL and its Member Teams cannot guarantee that I/We or anyone else will not become infected with COVID-19, including my spouse, guests, unborn child or relatives. Participation in a PJSL and its Member Teams sponsored athletic sports program(s), related activity or event or using PJSL Member Teams facilities could increase the risk of contracting COVID-19.

By signing this release, I/We acknowledge the contagious risk of contracting COVID-19. By signing this release I/We acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and VOLUNTARILY assume risk that I/We may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by participating in a PJSL and Member Team related activity or event or by the use of PJSL Member Teams’ facilities and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death to myself, myself or others, including but not limited to, PJSL and Member Teams’ officers, boards, volunteers and program participants. I/We understand and voluntarily accept and assume all the foregoing risks related to COVID-19 and accept sole responsibility for any injury or illness that may occur.

Further I/We understand and agree that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of PJSL or its MEMBER TEAM, its employees, agents, officers, volunteers and assigns, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any PJSL or Member Teams’ sports program(s), related event or activity or by the use of facilities.

    COVID Mitigation Agreement

We acknowledge and agree to abide by PJSL COVID mitigation guidelines as presented at practices and meets for each facility PJSL and Lopatcong Swim Team activities are held (please see team website for additional details).

    Based on current CDC guidance:

    • The COVID-19 virus can spread before another person shows signs of the virus or is symptomatic, and even vaccinated individuals potentially may spread the virus to those not vaccinated yet.
    • Vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask outdoors, except in certain crowded settings and venues, which includes PJSL team activities.
    • Fully vaccinated PJSL coaches and officials no longer need to quarantine from PJSL activities following an exposure as long as they are asymptomatic.
    • Since PJSL will not engage in checking vaccination cards of athletes, parents, and other swim meet volunteers, and since the vast majority of athletes are not eligible for vaccination yet, COVID mitigation protocols will continue during PJSL activities.
    • Although fully vaccinated asymptomatic people without an exposure may be exempted from routine health screenings, as a league and we will follow facility screenings as required to enter said facilities.
    • PJSL also requires that anyone who is sick, has symptoms of COVID-19, or if un-vaccinated has reason to believe they have had contact with anyone with COVID-19, should not participate in any manner until after quarantine and/or a negative COVID test result.
